Maginot Line
The French established this fortification after WWI to divide France from Germany, but it didnt divide Germany from Belgium. Insted of risking their troops by attacking, the French decided to wait behind the Maginot Line for the Germans to approach it. But instead, Adolf Hitler decided to go around the Maginot Line, which forced his army to invade the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg before taking over the French.
